Council’s Biggest-Ever Elections Protected by Leisursec with Bodycams and Video-Capture by Global Focus!
When Cheshire East Borough Council held recent elections for MPs and MEPs, they also balloted residents for election of 82 Councillors across the region’s 52 Wards.
This was clearly a massive feat of organisation for the Council’s governance and democratic services team. Once the votes were in, all the boxes had to be transported from the polling stations to the region’s central counting facility. This major security operation was entrusted to national firm Leisuresec and its bodycam video surveillance team from sister company Global Focus.
“Leisuresec was a tremendous help to us in delivering the security and associated elements of our elections effort,” said Brian Reed, Cheshire East Council’s head of governance and democratic services. “These were the biggest scale of elections nationally, and the biggest ever faced by the Council. Leisuresec was responsive to our changing needs, and provided a high-quality, reassuring, security service which met all of our demanding requirements.”
Leisuresec managing director Cusack Gordon has more than 25 years’ experience in the security industry and is a past Chair of UKASP (United Kingdom Association of Security Professionals). I wonder how King John would have felt if he knew that guards with bodycams and video-capture would be safeguarding 800 years of liberty when he reluctantly signed the Magna Carta in 1215.”

“All our security operatives undertake initial training, then additional modular training every twelve months, including conflict management, duty of care, social responsibility and customer care, physical intervention, FPOS (first person on scene), operational deployment, immediate action drills and queue control, incident report and witness statement construction, drug awareness, radio communication, searching, law, equal opportunities and managing diversity.”
