If you’re looking for security, check out this advice from the SIA
Choosing a security company can be a confusing process. There are so many different companies out there; local, national, international – and some offering specific services while others can provide a full range. How do you choose?
In the UK, the Security Industry Authority (SIA) is responsible for regulating the private security industry. Operating under the terms of the Private Security Industry Act 2001, they undertake the compulsory licencing of security operatives and manage the voluntary ‘Approved Contractors Scheme’ (ACS). The ACS scheme was introduced as a set of performance standards for private security companies to meet, and accreditation is awarded when they can prove their commitment to providing quality security services.
Now the SIA has produced a guide to help companies looking for security services. It offers advice on methods of selection and the things to consider about the companies you shortlist.
Any company with ACS accreditation has been independently verified, so you can be assured they meet the required standards. But ACS accreditation isn’t compulsory and if you have another company in mind you should do your own due diligence checks to confirm the quality of their services.
Leisuresec is an ACS provider of security services and has demonstrated our commitment to the scheme over many years. Our last audit was in March 2017 and we were scored in the top quarter of UK security companies.
As a ACS company Leisuresec demonstrates that:
• We have processes in place to monitor and manage service delivery to customers and consumers
• We train and develop staff to deliver customer satisfaction and added value
• We develop and implement effective management system to continually improve the organisation and its performance
• We measure and improve performance against key customer and consumer indicators
